1. Our Commitment to Responsible Gambling

betpawa.ie is strongly committed to fostering a culture of responsible and safe gambling. All content about BetPawa on this site is provided solely for informational and educational purposes. We believe that sports betting should be an enjoyable leisure activity pursued consciously and in a controlled manner — and should never be used as a source of income, a solution to financial difficulties, or an escape from personal problems or emotional pressure.

As an independent informational website, betpawa.ie is committed to providing transparent, balanced, and complete information so that every BetPawa bettor can make fully informed decisions about their gambling experience.

2. Golden Rules of Safe Betting

01
Bet for entertainment, not profit: BetPawa sports betting is inherently uncertain. The built-in margin means that over time, outcomes statistically favour the operator. No system, strategy, or betting pattern can guarantee sustained profit on sports wagering.
02
Set a strict betting budget: Before each session, determine the maximum amount of money you can genuinely afford to lose — money that is completely disposable and whose loss will not negatively impact your rent, basic necessities, bills, savings, or other essential expenses. Adhere to this limit without exception in every session.
03
Limit your session time: Decide in advance how long each BetPawa betting session will last. Set a timer and honour it unconditionally. Take regular breaks of at least 15 minutes every hour. Never bet for prolonged periods without stopping as fatigue significantly impairs decision-making.
04
Never chase losses: If you lose while betting on BetPawa, resist the impulse to increase stakes or extend your session to win back what was lost. Each bet is a statistically independent event. There is no guaranteed method to recover past losses.
05
Never bet when emotionally compromised: Avoid placing bets on BetPawa when experiencing severe stress, extreme fatigue, emotional distress, depression, anger, or when under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any other substance that impairs rational judgment and healthy self-control.
06
Maintain a balanced lifestyle: Sports betting should occupy a limited, defined, and controlled place in your life. Actively invest time in other recreational activities, social relationships, physical exercise, career development, and hobbies that provide satisfaction entirely independent of gambling.
07
Never bet with borrowed money: Never use personal loans, bank overdrafts, credit cards, buy-now-pay-later facilities, or money borrowed from family or friends to fund your BetPawa betting sessions. Only bet with personal disposable income you can genuinely afford to lose.
08
Enforce age limits strictly: Sports betting is prohibited for individuals below 18 years of age in Ireland under the Betting Acts and the Gambling Regulation Act 2024. Never share access to betting accounts or devices with minors.

3. Warning Signs of Problem Gambling

Recognize the early warning signs that may indicate the development of gambling disorder (ICD-11 classification code: 6C50 — Gambling Disorder):

Betting on BetPawa with money for rent, food, or bills Obsessive thinking about BetPawa odds and upcoming matches Lying to family or friends about gambling habits Neglecting work, studies, family, or social obligations Feeling restless, anxious, or irritable when unable to bet Increasing stake sizes to maintain the same level of excitement Using BetPawa as an escape from stress or personal problems Borrowing money or selling assets to fund betting sessions Repeatedly failing to reduce or stop gambling Deep guilt, shame, or regret after betting sessions
🚨 If you recognize even one of the above warning signs in yourself or someone you care about, we strongly urge you to immediately contact one of the specialist support services listed in Section 6 below, or call the Gambling Support Line Ireland: 1800 753 753 — free, confidential, and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week across Canada.

4. Self-Control Tools on Licensed Betting Platforms

Deposit limitsSet daily, weekly, or monthly maximum deposit amounts directly in the Responsible Gambling section of your account on any licensed platform you use for BetPawa-type betting. Decreases take effect immediately; increases require a mandatory cooling-off period on all regulated Canadian platforms.
Loss limitsSet the maximum amount you are willing to lose per session, day, or month. Once your self-imposed threshold is reached, the platform will automatically suspend further wagering for that period.
Session time limitsSet a maximum play time per betting session. When your chosen time expires, you will be automatically logged out of the platform regardless of current bet status or account balance.
Cooling-off periodsRequest a temporary voluntary suspension of your betting account for a period from 24 hours to 6 weeks. During a cooling-off period, your account cannot be accessed and no bets or deposits can be placed under any circumstances.
Self-exclusionRequest formal self-exclusion from a betting platform for 1 to 12 months or indefinitely. Self-exclusion takes effect immediately upon confirmation and cannot be reversed before the selected period ends. All licensed Canadian platforms are required by their regulators to offer this feature.
Reality check remindersActivate periodic pop-up notifications reminding you of the total time spent betting and cumulative amount wagered during your current session, helping you remain fully aware and in control.

5. Self-Exclusion Programs in Canada

Under the Gambling Regulation Act 2024, all gambling operators licensed by GRAI in Ireland are required to participate in the National Self-Exclusion Register, which allows individuals to exclude themselves from all licensed Irish gambling operators simultaneously through a single registration. The National Self-Exclusion Register is operated by GRAI and is available at: grai.ie. Self-exclusion takes effect within 24 hours across all participating licensed operators and may be set for periods from 1 month to indefinite.

For international betting platforms operating outside Irish licensing, GamStop (for UK-licensed operators) and Gambling Therapy provide additional self-exclusion mechanisms and support resources accessible from Ireland at: gamblingtherapy.org.

7. Protection of Minors

Sports betting — including using platforms associated with BetPawa — is prohibited for individuals under 18 years of age in Ireland under the Gambling Regulation Act 2024. All operators licensed by GRAI are required to implement robust age verification procedures at account registration and first deposit to prevent underage access.

If you share digital devices — including computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones — with children or teenagers in your household, we strongly recommend installing reliable parental control software such as Qustodio, Norton Family, Kaspersky Safe Kids, or the built-in Screen Time (iOS) and Family Link (Android) features to block access to gambling websites. Report any suspected or confirmed underage access to the compliance team of the relevant betting platform immediately and, if necessary, to the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI) at: grai.ie.

8. Problem Gambling Self-Assessment (PGSI)

Answer the following 9 questions honestly based on your experience with BetPawa and all other gambling activities over the past 12 months. This self-assessment is based on the internationally validated and clinically recognized Problem Gambling Severity Index (PGSI), widely used by addiction treatment specialists across Canada:

1
Have you bet more than you could really afford to lose on BetPawa or any other betting platform?
2
Have you needed to gamble with larger amounts of money to get the same feeling of excitement?
3
When you gamble, do you go back another day to try to win back money you have lost?
4
Have you borrowed money or sold anything to get money to gamble?
5
Have you felt that you might have a problem with gambling?
6
Has gambling caused you any health problems, including stress or anxiety?
7
Have people criticized your betting or told you that you had a gambling problem, regardless of whether or not you thought it was true?
8
Has your gambling caused any financial problems for you or your household?
9
Have you felt guilty about the way you gamble or what happens when you gamble?

Scoring: Answer each question: Never (0), Sometimes (1), Most of the time (2), Almost always (3). A total score of 1–4 indicates low-level problem gambling; 5–7 indicates moderate gambling problems; 8 or higher indicates problem gambling. If your score is 1 or higher, we strongly encourage you to contact one of the support services in Section 6, or call 1-800-522-4700 — free and available 24/7 across Canada.
